BBS Kraftfahrzeugtechnik AG was founded in 1970 in Schiltach, Germany by Heinrich Baumgartner and Klaus Brand. The name comes from the founders’ initials. The company started with plastic car body parts but quickly moved into motorsports. In the late 1970s and 1980s, it gained fame with lightweight alloy wheels used in Formula 1 and endurance racing. BBS revolutionized the industry with multi-piece (modular) wheel designs and remains a leading premium performance wheel brand today.
